Bruce McConville’s World Wide SOS Appeal to The Salvation Army Global Command & Ottawa Mayoral Campaign Launch

For Immediate Release

A very important event will take place this Friday 14 September.

Starting at 7:00 pm, there will be a worldwide SOS Appeal going out to the newly elected Salvation Army Global Commander General Brian Peddle & Commissioner Rosalie Peddle.

In concert with Mona Fortier, MP, Nathalie Des Rosiers, MPP and Mathieu Fleury, City Councillor, please join me in launching this Salvation Army World Wide initiative whereby I am inviting the Salvation Army to abandon its proposal to build a 350 bed men’s Homeless Shelter and partner with us in fully realizing Housing First in Ottawa and beyond.

The timing for this Worldwide Appeal couldn’t be better. Our federal and provincial governments Funding Strategies are now in line with this objective. Ottawa University Professor, Tim Aubry, has indicated that the tools and resources are now in place for Ottawa to enable Housing First as our primary approach to end homelessness. Housing First is just, humane and restores dignity to our most vulnerable citizens.

At 8 pm. I will present my Mayoral Election Platform and message to Ottawa voters.

Then we’re having a party featuring the band, Roots Movement. They perform amazing reggae and soul and they will have you dancing and grooving until midnight. There will be a licenced bar on sight.

Location: Centre Pauline Charron
164 Jeanne Mance Street, Ottawa, K1L 6M3
